Western-cowboy genre painting, printmaking
Bob Coronato is a painter of cowboys and Indians, known for his highly realistic style. With a studio in Hulett, Wyoming, and the rest of the year spent in Arizona, Coronato’s love for Western themes began in childhood. During his time at the Otis Institute of Fine Art in Los Angeles, he focused on Western subjects, nearly getting expelled for turning every assignment into a Western painting. In 1993, he held a solo show at the High Plains Western Heritage Center and later transitioned from painting historical Old West scenes to contemporary Western life after moving to Wyoming. There, he worked on the IPY Ranch and gained firsthand experience of ranch life. Coronato’s work has earned him recognition, including his acceptance into the 2009 Masters of the American West Show at the Autry Museum. In addition to painting, he practices printmaking, using techniques like colle etching, serigraphy, and silkscreens.
