Fort Worth-based fine artist Billy Hassell, dubbed “Mother Nature’s Stylist” by The New York Times, has exhibited his work since the 1980s. Known for bold color, dynamic patterns, and a graphically illustrative style, Hassell creates vibrant interpretations of the natural world.
His work is held in prominent collections including the Dallas Museum of Art, Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and Menil Collection, as well as public collections such as the U.S. Embassy, University of Texas, HBO, and George W. Bush Presidential Center. His work has been featured in The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Art News, and numerous regional publications.
A committed conservation advocate, Hassell has donated artwork to support organizations including The Nature Conservancy, Ocean Conservancy, and Audubon Society. He also creates lithographs, stained-glass murals, and site-specific commissions. Hassell holds a BFA from Notre Dame and MFA from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and has taught painting, printmaking, drawing, and studio practices at universities nationwide.
