Ed Mell spent an idyllic childhood in what was then the small western city of Phoenix. He attended Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles, and soon after graduation accepted a position in New York as an art director for a large advertising agency.
Although he achieved success in commercial art in New York City early in his career, after 10 years in Manhattan, Mell was ready to return to his home state of Arizona to create fine art depicting the land he loved. Notable public and private collections feature Mell’s work, including The Forbes Collection, Tucson Museum of Art, Diane Keaton, Mountain Bell in Denver, U-Haul Corporation, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Coors, Tri-Star Pictures, and Phoenix Art Museum.
