Gladys Roldan-de-Moras, born in Monterrey, Mexico, in 1965, is a distinguished Mexican-Colombian American artist whose vibrant work reflects her cultural heritage and passion for capturing meaningful moments. Although she initially pursued a career in medicine, Roldan-de-Moras followed her lifelong calling to art, earning her degree from the University of Texas after moving to Austin in 1984.
A versatile artist, she works primarily in oil while also exploring pastel, watercolor, pencil, and charcoal. Her artistic development has been shaped by workshops with numerous acclaimed artists, particularly Daniel Gerhartz. She currently teaches oil painting at the Coppini Academy of Fine Arts and leads workshops throughout the year.
Roldan-de-Moras’s paintings are held in collections including the University of Texas at San Antonio, San Antonio Art League Museum, and Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. Her work has received numerous honors, including the Artist Magazine Award for Excellence, Julian Onderdonk Memorial Purchase Award, and Grumbacher Award. She is also an advocate for plein-air painting, regularly traveling to Mexico and abroad for inspiration.
