Thomas Blackshear, a graduate of the American Academy of Art in Chicago, is a distinguished painter and illustrator celebrated for his dramatic use of light, color, and expressive mood. Early in his career, he apprenticed with noted illustrator Mark English, then became head illustrator at Godbold/Richter Studio before establishing himself as a freelance artist in 1982. Blackshear’s painting spans a wide range of subjects, including figurative, historical, and narrative works, often with deeply emotive or spiritual themes.
