Jerry Jordan is a Taos, New Mexico–based painter known for his vibrant, eclectic work spanning cityscapes, rural landscapes, still lifes, and Pueblo Indian subjects. Raised on a Texas farm, he was mentored by local artist W.R. Thrasher but is largely self-taught, citing Richard Schmid, Edward Szmyd, and Ray Vinella as key influences. At eighteen, he built a studio on his family farm and quickly sold his work, demonstrating early artistic promise.
After a brief period as a gallery director in Taos, Jordan returned to Texas to focus on developing his style. Jordan resettled in Taos in the mid-1980s, living with the Reynas family at Taos Pueblo before purchasing a historic adobe home with his wife Marilyn. His work often explores bold contrasts, light, and inventive color combinations.
