Robert Harrison was born in San Antonio, Texas, and grew up in the Wimberly area. He has lived in San Antonio most of his life.
His love of the Hill Country is evident in his paintings. He is considered by many art authorities to be the best living landscape artist in Texas. Cecilia Steinfeld, curator emeritus of the Witte Museum, listed him as one of the Top Ten bluebonnet painters of all time in an article in Southwest Art Magazine, April 1985.
Harrison is best known for his bluebonnet scenes, but he also paints Texas landscapes of other seasons and areas of Texas other than the Hill Country.
