Raised on the romance of western life in Texas, he became a sculptor and painter of western themes.
As a child, he studied at the Museum of Fine Art in Dallas and then traveled in Europe when his art was exhibited by the Dallas Museum. He attended the University of Texas and did rodeo action portraits of competitors. After earning his degree, he began painting and sculpting full time, and in 1985, began taking classes at the Cowboy Artists of America Museum, something he did for seven years. In 1993, he was elected to the Cowboy Artists of America.
He and his family made their home on a farmstead dating to the 1870s on the Old Chisholm Trail, and he frequently paints the Hereford cattle he raises on his small ranch.
