KNOWN FOR
Nostalgic mountain and plains painting, Indian encampments
Gene Speck, born in South Dakota, raised in California, and now a resident of Nevada, is a self-taught painter in photo-real style of mountain landscapes, and nostalgic ‘days-gone by’ Great Plains scenes with Indian encampments, ranches and panoramic views.
Of him, it is written: “Gene Speck is a gentle simple man. He paints the land he knows and understands. He portrays the people he admires and feels close to… who lived 100 years ago. Through his paintings he brings the past to the present and harkens back to a time of peacefulness that flows out of love for the land and harmony among the people.” Many of his mountain landscapes are of the Rocky and Teton ranges.
